The Peacegiver

My cousin, Jessie Jo, got me into a fabulous book club that I am just loving. It is made up of 10 women from four different cities nearby. All of them are avid readers and have such great ideas and opinions about our books. It was my turn to host this month. I chose The Peacegiver, by James L. Ferrell. If you want an excellent, easy read, this may just be the book for you.

The book is basically about what the atonement really means in our individual lives. It is intertwined with stories from The Bible and a modern day story of one man's troubled marriage. The book takes us through his struggle to find forgiveness and healing. Such a good book!


What I learned:


1. Most of us usually try to find faults with those who have wronged us rather than looking at our own faults. Thus, making it more difficult to forgive them and move on.
2. Each one of us is of abundant value to the Lord. We each have such a special purpose...we need to treat each other as such.
3. Satan is real. When we sin, we may not realize it until he has wrapped his cords and chains tightly around us for some time. It may start with something as little as a negative thought or word.
4. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is for EVERYBODY. We are all sinners, but can all be forgiven. Nobody is exempt from this great gift.
5. Christ was the perfect example of forgiveness. The easier we forgive, the happier we will be in this life.



p.s. I made my very first lemon meringue pie for dessert. It was splendid. Next time i'll try making the crust from scratch.
