Preston has "cracked the code". In teacher world we say that children eventually get to a point where they "figure it out". They recognize letters, words, and sounds around them. Not memorized or forced sight words, but real sounds that they put together in their own minds to come up with words. I love it when the code is cracked because it is as if the world has been opened to them. Preston is reading, reading, reading, and announcing the name of every store, restaraunt and road sign that we pass.
He took his first A.R. test this week and earned an 80%. It was on the book Big Egg, by Molly Coxe...a story about a chick that is much larger than all of the other chicks around him. Even though he is so big, his mom loves him just as much. I thought it very appropriate.

It took me a minute but I figured it out. So cute. Bella is learning how to read. I am teaching using the book, "Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons". Love this book!
I love it when the "light" turns on and it is like a whole new world to them!!! How fun!!!
