Life is Funny Like That

A year ago we were feeling cramped in our house. We were looking at larger homes. I mean with four boys one needs at least 4000 square feet right? Our yard was too small. It would be fun to decorate a new house etc., etc... What a different scenario it is today. As I drove home from the school this morning, with baby Dane blowing raspberries in the back seat, I felt so thankful that my husband has a job (crossing my fingers), and that we haven't lost our beautiful home like so many. I thought about how pretty and green it is in this neighborhood. What a friendly atmosphere for our kiddies to grow up in. What fabulous friends and neighbors. I feel silly for ever wanting more. Today, I am just thankful. Life is funny like that.

Amen Amen!!! Life is funny like that isn't it. When we think we don't have it all, we suddenly realize that we actually do have it all!

Things like that happen to me all the time! Indeed, we are blessed. I'm blessed to have you as a friend.

I hope you don't think its too wierd that I came by to visit your blog from mesa top blogs on feedjit, but I just wanted to say a big "amen sistah" to your post. when we moved here a year ago I was so frustrated that we couldnt' jump right in and buy a big beautiful made-just-for-us home. But as it turns out, I am in love with my modest home in my modest neighborhood, with my wonderful nieghbors and my beautiful view of the mountains...I woudlnt' have had that if we'd gotten a mcmansion like I wanted.

So glad you stayed. Our street wouldn't be the same without you.

I have the best memories of raising 4 kids in a 1400 square foot home just 5 years ago! One of my favorite songs says "But you know, love grows best in little houses,
With fewer walls to separate,
Where you eat and sleep so close together.
You can't help but communicate,
Oh, and if we had more room between us, think of all we'd miss.
Love grows best, in houses just like this.

I still am living my memory of raising 5 1/2 kids and a beast {Bella} in a 1700 square foot house. Although I do get a little 'we are a little too cramped' when I look into my kids closets, I am so thankful for where we are, as well! It is funny how things change so quickly!

This economy has really given perspective to me. I am so glad that Chad works for the church and that his job is very safe. My heart aches for those who have lost their jobs and therefore their homes. I don't know what I would do in that case. Scary to think about it. But President Packer spoke at our Stake Conference 2 weeks ago and he said something that really hit me. He said that we need to have faith. And that we need to live so that we have the Spirit in our lives to guide us. Simple things but very important right now, I think.
