On Earth Day we went down to the Power Ranch Club House to join in on the annual "Lady Bug Release". Unfortunately, because of our traumatic week, I didn't even know that it was Earth Day until I got there (Don't worry, I plant and recycle on a regular basis). I take my kids out of school every year to attend this event as it is so amazing to them. The the community lets the kids release thousands upon thousands of ladybugs to help our plants and trees grow.
Since I have been growing things, I have a new found respect for insects like ladybugs and bees. We need them!
This year Cody's 2nd grade class was already going, so Tyler, Eli (Tyler's buddy), baby Dane, and I met him there.
Waiting for the bugs.

This is the giant ladybug Power Ranch hired to read
A Very Hungry Caterpillar to the kids. They were SO not into her. Look at the expressions on their faces.
Why do I think that this is funny?
The kids would take handfuls and handfuls of ladybugs out of these bags and then let them go.
Kind of gross, but really cool.
Baby Dane, always happy to be outside!

Preston got a little freaked out. This was a shock to me because this kid spends hours out in the backyard looking for creatures. I think he was just overwhelmed with how many there were.

Cody was interviewed by the East Valley Tribune and quoted in an article. Him and his buddy Jacob were also on Fox 10 News that night. See that lady to the right, in the back. That's Mrs. Garcia, one of the best teachers that I have ever seen.
We love that lady!
