As everyone well knows religion and education come first at our house. However, in a very close third comes sports. Cody and Preston have narrowed their sporting activities to football and basketball. Tyler will begin trying them all out in the fall. Not to mention the studies on why being a part of a sporting team is so good for kids, there are a few reasons why our kids play.
1. It is fun.
2. It builds self-confidence.
3. It teaches them to work toward something.
4. It keeps them busy and exerts tons of energy.
5. It teaches them about winning and losing. Winning is more fun. If you do lose, work harder.
6. It teaches them to work with all different kinds of people, and to listen to the guy in charge.

This his Coach Bond, Cody's coach. He is a great coach, and is willing to give up alot of his free time to teach our kids the "love of the game".
This is his very serious game day walk. You don't mess with coach on game day. It is very serious business I tell ya!

I love that our kids play sports too. I have to agree with you on all your reasons for why it is so important to play a sport. I especially love that it builds their self esteem and I really like that it teaches them to work with others. That is what our oldest Blake is learning as of late. Not everyone does everything the same way or necessarily does everyone always play fair or listen to the coach but this is life. You have to learn to get along and work with everyone. Sports teaches a lot of life lessons. Don't ya think?
You guys are too funny! I'm surprised you all as parents put up with my game day shenanigans! It is definitely an honor to coach such special boys as we have in this neighborhood.
My kids love to play sports too. They start tball this week. I LOVED playing sports growing up.
