And We're Off!

Summer has been good to us so far! My mom bought the boys a huge water slide a few years ago. This was one of her famous "grandma gifts". I wasn't happy about it at first as I thought she shouldn't be spending so much on them. She always says, "To bad, i'm the grandma. That's what we get to do." However, that thing was used, and used, and used. It finally died. So, we went out and purchased the newer model for our Memorial Day bbq. Hopefully, it lasts as long as the other one did. The kids just can't get enough of it!

Swim team is hard. Cody and Preston both swim for 40 straight minutes every morning. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do what they do. At first they wanted to quit. Then, Warren gave them his, "This is where we separate the leaders from the followers, Steve Nash swims in the off season, once he starts something a Coates never, ever quits, when I was young etc., etc., etc. speech." Ever since then, they have been fine. I can't believe the confidence that comes when a child pushes himself to do something difficult, something he just knew he wasn't capable of. It really is amazing to watch.

This face pretty much sums up how Tyler feels about swimming lessons. He can already swim, but does not do well in new environments. Thankfully, by the third day he came around and started to enjoy it. He'd better, he has a whole summer left of lessons.

Baby Dane just gets to hang out and watch it all! Yesterday at Bounce U, he pulled himself up from an Indian style sit to standing. He did this twice. I have no picture of it as we were too busy cheering for him. He is such a strong 9 month old.

Oh that slide looks like a lot of fun for the kids! I couldn't agree more with you about how much I have enjoyed watching my kids do things that they didn't think they could do and then when they do it I love the confidence they find in themselves! I also love what Warren said to the boys about separating the leaders. That was very insightful! And Baby Dane is just a doll!
