I Write

I was looking through previous blog posts of mine. It is a modge podge of family happenings, journal entries, and my opinions on life. I'm not very uniform or true to one subject like some of these blogs that I see. One day last week I found an entire blog on nothing but cupcakes...Months and months of cupcakes. I should explain. I'm a writer, always have been, always will be. Yes, I often get spellings and grammar incorrect, I sometimes write things down out of emotion, I even write about trees in my yard yet, I write on. I spent 4 years in college learning about authors and writers of the past, and then trying my hand at it. I spent another year learning how to teach literature and writing to other people. I have spent the last 13 years actually teaching it. Ironically, what I have learned is that you can't really teach someone to be a writer. You just have to want to do it. You have to love the written word and then not really care whether or not people love or hate what you write, or if people even read it at all. You have to write things down simply for the sake of writing, and write them down from your heart. There are certain blogs that I love to read because the author's voice just pours out. Some of them are funny, some of them are clever, but all of them are honest to who the writer is. Thanks to those of you who love to write, or hate to write, but do it anyway. Your words inspire me!

Your blog does that for me Monica! I love to read your entries. They are very entertaining and just so "true to life". This current entry of yours may have just inspired me to start blogging again......just maybe. Ü

I do not love to write, I'm pretty stinky about it, but my kids LOVE my words. I do it for them! One day many weird moments will be remembered through our family blog.

I am with Wendi. I love your entries. I love reading about the life of Monica Coates and her sweet family. I love that what you write is from your heart! I'm not a great writer but I do love blogging. I love that I'm journaling and doing some scrapbooking and family history all in one shot. It's awesome! Thanks for keeping me going on it and keeping inspired and motivated. Your awesome!
