I was thinking about my Mother's Day and discussing the realities of life with a dear friend this morning. Although Warren rewarded me with a hair appointment and shopping trip on Saturday (Thank you sweetie!), Sunday was not so smooth. If you're not in my ward, you didn't see me literally drag 3 of my 4 boys out during a very spiritual talk. Yes, Preston and Cody were on the floor
loudly cracking up. After 2 warnings I had had it. I tried to get them out gracefully (Warren was already in the hall with baby Dane), but Preston decided to pull the old "limp leg" on me. My kids are not petite, so it was nothing short of a stumbling mess, all while this sweet sister was giving such a heart felt talk. Of course, we sat on the 5th row from the front this week. And, of course, two very quiet families sat both in front of and behind us this week. Once I got our kids out the door, I practically threw them to Warren and went back in with my sweet babies to enjoy the rest of the talk.
That one will go down in our family history book forever.I just had a thought...At least I felt fabulous while I dragged my kids out of church with my new hair and outfit! We must be optimistic in these situations!
When I was little i'll never forget my dad taking out my younger brother Ben during the middle of Sacrament Meeting in the 45th ward. The entire way out Ben
screamed, "Don't beat me! Don't beat me!" Here's Ben...And yes, he ended up turning out wonderfully!!

Sorry but I can't help but laugh. I totally feel your pain. What is it about sacrament meeting that turns children into terrors? Now that Chad is in Young Men's he has to either bless or pass the sacrament every week. During the most spiritual time of the week I am regularly fighting my kids to just sit still and be quiet. OY!
Happy Belated Mother's Day! I'm sorry I too got a bit of a chuckle out of this story only because I've lived this! I have to say that now they are not on the floor in sacrament meeting laughing but sometimes they are in church still pestering and bugging one another. The worst part is that they should be acting better at 10 and half, 11 and half, and 14. Don't you think? Oh well, these are good memories that we will remember and laugh about forever!
We haven't fell off the world our lives are just very packed at the moment! We will catch you up to speed soon.
Love ya,
JoLynn
Count me as another chuckler in this one. Been there, done that. Usually, though, your boys are quite good. Just a bad day. And you did look fabulous with your new hair and outfit!
Joe was telling me about your kids and the Footes, and he got quite a little laugh. After I told him that I told you what a dork he was I think he had to laugh! :)
love that you looked fab while doing it!!! that's the best part!!
Yeah...I hear ya. One time I was by myself with all five kids, cuz Dale was out of town. They were all being soo soo bad, that I marched them out to the suburban and turned the AC on and threatened them with their lives if they turned on the DVD player and went back into the meeting to enjoy it in peace and quiet. My oldest is 12, so I figured he was old enough to "babysit" them. I was fed up. Needless to say I haven't had to use the form of punishment again!
Too funny, I can realate...it's usually my oldest, 11 yr.old, teasing and pestering my younger two during Sacrament..I think Mother's day should be on Saturday, Sunday is just a long day when you have 8:30 church!!
