This morning Cody and Preston were tardy (I feel very teachery when I say "tardy"). I wanted to park and help them take their lovely plates of chocolate swirled banana bread in to their teachers (It's Teacher Appreciation Week). You can find the recipe if you click over there to the left on "Marin's Creations". As we walked toward the Kindergarten playground, the kids were already lined up and chanting, "Go Pres-ton, go Pres-ton." Why? I have absolutely no idea, but he was thrilled. Not one worry about being late, just loved the attention. I felt like I was in a parade.
Inside the classroom I noticed that Preston had a new seat. Mrs. Cruz explained to me that she wanted to move Preston to a new spot as she needed a "quiet student" there. What? Preston? Quiet? Hmm, who would have guessed? He sure is different at home. She also told me that he quite likes the cutie to his left, mmm hmmm.
Preston has always been my kickback kid. Even in the womb he barely ever moved. Easy going, rule following, go with the flow Preston. What a joy to have him.
Then I continued on to Cody's class. He was much more concerned about this whole issue of being late. He turned to me and said in a very serious tone, "Am I going to get held back?" In his classroom he walked rigidly to his seat and got right to work as I chuckled about the comment with his fabulouso teacher, Mrs. Garcia. Do the right thing, competative, on time Cody. What a joy to have him.
I love all of my children so much and appreciate their incomparable personalities. What a process it is to learn about each of them and what will help each individual child be successful in this crazy world. Somehow, each little personality is needed in our family unit.
I love their teachers too. I praise the ground they walk on as they struggle daily to teach so many different personalities for so little compensation. It is really a challenging job. There is a special place in my heart for these fantastic ladies. They deserve every last crumb of that chocolate swirled banana bread!

So funny that Cody thought he may get held back. And I love that they were cheering for Preston! How cute.
I love it! "am i going to get held back"- that made me crack up! Thanks for the laugh.
I, too, love the tapestry of personalities in our family. Each child, each person, so different and yet so very needed.
