I never had to defend the fall season here when I was younger. Back then everyone was from here and nothing but farms were South of Baseline. Gilbert road was as far East as anyone would care to venture.
But today, my dear Utah and Idaho friends love to banter about this time of year. "It's too hot. I miss the leaves. In Utah I would be doing "this" or "that" if I were there." See, the Californians like fall here because it is just like the weather in California. The people from back East are just thankful that there are now snowdrifts yet. Utah and Idaho are different, the climates there are more mild.
Nevertheless, Fall is my favorite time of year, especially here in "The Cactus State". I love sitting at night football practices and being just a little chilly instead of full on cold. I love driving with my windows down during the day as I run my errands. I love the Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations that can be put outside without a worry that the snow will ruin them. I love, oh how I love, the fall moon here in Arizona. It is big, and yellow, and low. I love the gorgeous sunsets. I love knowing that if I really want to see some snow, in about 45 days, I will be able to drive 75 miles directly North to play in it, and then be able to drive back and quickly get out of it. I love planning to run a 10K on Thanksgiving Day because I know the weather will be awesome. I love hearing people say, "THIS is why we live here, when talking about the weather."
But most of all, I love knowing that I have at least eight more months of this fabulous, fabulous weather! I LOVE ARIZONA!

I agree with you! I have a lot of Utah friends who are always ripping on our Arizona autumns. For the most part all but maybe 4 months of the year I truly love our weather and wouldn't want to live any other place!
Count me as one of the complainers!
Yes, but I still love you!!
I love Arizona Autumns too! Also, nothing more beautiful than a firery Arizona Sunset. By the way, you have a natural talent in writing, Monica! Very descriptive and enjoyable to read. Love you!
i'm glad someone loves az... i do have a love for flagstaff and greer?? does that count?
Doesn't seem like the fall I knew....wondering if your snowsuit would fit over your halloween costume...but I love this time of year. Every year though, I get all excited and decide I am in love with AZ again...and there is another week of heat...so my lips are sealed!
I love the fall in AZ. I think that you're spot on about the sunsets. I don't believe that I've ever seen anything comparable to the colors of an AZ sunset. The weather really is just right. Truly why blessed people live there!
OCTOBER IS MY FAVORITE MONTH. I LOVE AUTUMN ALSO.
Ha Ha Ha Ha
you just keep telling yourself that. That is what I did to until I moved to a state that HAD seasons. Love You Monica, but no way!!!!!! :)
I agree! We get the same thing regarding Houston. I'll definitely take the few months of heat compared to a place where it snows in October and is only 23 degrees! -- sitting here in Denver freezing - Michael (still waiting on an invite...)
