Balance

Our two new found family hobbies (fish, and gardening) have got me thinking. In the garden there is always alot going on. Plants growing too fast to slow down. Some have fruits. Others struggling. Too much sun, too much water? Have to figure it out. When the plant is thriving, the fruits are good. It was worth it. When they struggle I am tempted to pull them out and just start over. No patience at all I tell ya.

In the fish tank. Just three little fish. Not a big deal? Make sure the water temperature is right. Only feed them good food. They need a place to hide, but don't crowd the tank. Real plants are always better than fake. Make sure the PH of the water is O.K. Hopefully they all get along?

Both have been interesting learning experiences for all of us. When our pets/plants struggle, we worry. None of us has given up yet. When they thrive it is more than worth it. I get to watch vegetables grow in my own back yard! Why is that so interesting to me? We all get to enjoy the happy dancing of our little fish, their bright colors (depending on their moods), and the bubbling aquarium with the cool little light. It's all a matter of balance. I notice that just being able to stay with it, not giving up when it's hard, brings even more joy in the end. I find myself glad that I even tried.

This whole earth life is such a balance, I'm learning. Balancing how to spend our time doing the most worthwhile things instead of the things that clamor the most.
I'm with you - I get so excited when I actually get it right and see something grow!
