Old School Birthday Party

Today, in honor of Tyler's 4th birthday on Monday, we had an old school birthday party. I say this only because I usually have parties planned and purchased weeks in advance. Indiana Jones invitations were sent, but the rest of it just didn't happen in light of recent events. So, early this morning, we decorated and bought. Tyler invited 10 of his closest friends to celebrate. It turned out very well. Who new such snazzy kiddos were so old school?? What good, good kids they all are. We just love them. Here's what we did.

Posed for an old school birthday party picture.
Decorated an old school table with gifts, cupcakes, party bags, and snakes.
Played old school "Pin the Tongue on the Snake". Cody made the snake, and the tongues are in the envelope. Cute huh? Congrats on the win Bob!
Played old school "Freeze Dance". Old school music selections were, "Can't Touch This", "We Will Rock You", and "Who Let the Dogs Out?".
They all totally jammed.
Played old school "Indiana Jones Says". Warren was Indiana Jones, off course.
I never buy cupcakes or cakes for parties. I always make some cute, creative thing. Not this time. There were no Indiana Jones cakes there this morning, but the kids didn't care.
I am sorry I sent them all home stained!!

We also made old school Indiana Jones whips out of p.v.c. pipe and rope. I don't know what happened to that pic??
Did I mention this party was totally old school?? It was so much fun. Happy Birthday Tyler (More about that one later!).

You are beginning to see already. Sometimes, and I think most times, less is more. So what if you didn't make a triple layer homemade decked out cake. You were probably less stressed out for this party and it was Awesome! Love the old school games. My kids always love to play musical chairs too! Way to simplify!!!!!

Yes!!! I love it!!! I'm all about simplicity! I think so so often I put way to much pressure on my self and in reality if I'd just tone things down a bit it actually would be much easier and much better in the end! Glad that the party was a hit! Oh and Happy Happy Birthday Tyler!
