Fourth of July 2009

We went to the cabin for the Fourth this year. Here are some of our adventures...

Squirrely the squirrel. This is the view we have from the covered deck at the cabin. This little squirrel loved Baby Dane. Every time Dane would come out, there was Squirrely. They both just kind of sat and stared at each other for long periods of time. It was very deep.
Jacuzzi action shot.
Jacuzzi glam shot.
The boys bought bows and arrows with their allowance. My dad told them they could earn a dollar for every time that they hit the neighbor's ceramic raccoon.
Yes, even the big boy had to give it a try.
Battleship with grandpa. Skipbo with grandpa. 1000 piece puzzle with grandpa. Goat farm with grandpa. Historical schoolhouse with grandpa. Fossil Creek with grandpa. Hikes in the forrest with grandpa.A very worn out grandpa. Thanks dad.
Live band at the pre-fire works show. I wish I would have asked their band name. I imagine it to be something like, "The Coon Dogs". The guy to the right was th harmonica player. There was also another guitar player and drummer in the back. You know you're jealous right now because you missed "The Coon Dogs"!
There were so many fun things for the kids to do at the park there in Payson before the show.
This is why we lug all of our junk down to the Payson park each year, and wait for three hours. The fireworks are right off of the lake there. You literally have to lie down to see them. It is truly spectacular and pulling off to the side of the road somewhere just wouldn't have been the same. They loved it. I hope that we helped create a good memory for them. I'm all about good memories.
Baby Dane loved it too.
It was a good Fourth of July. My favorite part was driving home late Sunday night with sleeping kids and my sweetheart, who drove all of the way back up after his Sunday responsibilities to pick us up. It gave us two quiet hours together to connect and work our lives together out. And I saw fireworks all over again.

I love this post especially the last part about you and Warren. I love the love that the two of you have and show for one another. I think I especially appreciate this because I lived in a home all of my life with a single mom. I am grateful for her and all that she did for me but I'm also very grateful for the wonderful examples of married couples that loved each other unconditionally. You and Warren are setting such a positive example for your boys just by loving each other.

I'm also glad that you guys got to enjoy the cabin and fireworks. It looks like a lot fun and a lot of good memories were made.

Take Care,
JoLynn
