We are officially half way through summer, can you believe it? I have posted this quote before, but love it so much that I want to post it again to remind myself that my mood is everything for my kids. It is a quote that a very wise woman gave me when I began teaching years ago. All of the places that say "mother" are originally written as "teacher". However, when I put "mother" in, the piece means so much more to me. Enjoy!
"I have come to a frightening conclusion.
I am the decisive element in the home.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
As a mother I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration.
I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a child humanized or dehumanized."

Wow what a powerful quote. I love reading quotes. I am a big quote person. I have a lot of them around the house. When I read this one man it made me think I hope that I'm doing the best that I can for my kids every single day!
Thanks for sharing! And thank you so much for all your nice comments on our blog! Your words always touch me and my family. In fact today Blake said to me, "Mom, I think we should meet this Monica. She sounds like a really good friend." I told his that you were an awesome and very dear friend! Thanks for everything!
