Each July and August since I can remember, I am always surprised to step outside one humid evening and hear the clicking sounds of the Cicada. When I was in elementary school we would drive to my great aunt Aenon and uncle Grant's home to swim. If we were lucky, the arrogation would have come (for some reason Cicadas love arrogation) and we would swim in the dark with the smell of citrus, and the sound of those little creatures calling to each other.
I've since learned that it is the male Dogday Cicada singing his girlfriend a love song. Very romantic I think. This morning, when I went out to set up the waterslide, there were several love songs taking place...
I tried not to interrupt.
Soon enough the date was over, and my backyard was full of the normal sounds of summer.
And I just can't complain!
***P.S. I love in blogging how it is perfectly legal to begin sentences with words like "and" or "but".

I love blogging too. It's like all the grammer and spelling rules go right out the window. Thank goodness or I would have been kicked out of the blogging world long long ago!
I love all your posts. I usually learn something from your posts and that is always a good thing. Thanks for sharing!
Oh and your slide looks like so much fun! Thank goodness Grandma Wilson bought that!
Take Care,
