Zucchini, Pulled Pork, and Prayers

I haven't posted about my garden in a while, but it is still there. They say that summer gardens are wild and unorganized. Mine is no exception. The only things that have been able to withstand the desert heat are tomatoes, zucchini, and cantalope. The zucchini and cantalope seem to brush the sun aside and just keep growing and growing. I have learned that 3 or for long, slow soakings from the hose per week are much better than watering everyday from hand, or a watering system. Once I started doing this, my pretties doubled in size. I am anxious to begin a fall garden.

I came accross this bad boy just this morning. He (I am pretty sure it is a "he") will be good with our pulled pork, corn on the cob, and crusty bread tonight. You can find a fabulous, easy recipe for pulled pork here, http://marinscreations.blogspot.com/search/label/PORK.
Lastly, I wanted to share a quote that Warren and I have been talking about for a few weeks now. My cute cousin, Landon, used it in one of his lessons at church. We used to babysit Landon, and now he is engaged to be married, and well on his way to being a spiritual giant. Time really does fly.

“When He answers yes, it is to give us confidence. When He answers no, it is to prevent error. When He withholds an answer, it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth.”

By Elder L. Lionel Kendrick of the seventy.

Thank you for the update about your garden. I was actually just thinking about your garden yesterday and wondering how it was doing in this heat. Glad to hear that it is going well. I'm thinking of starting a garden in the fall. I have no idea how to start. I will have to have you guide me through this.

I also thank you for the pulled pork recipe ideas. We love pulled pork at our house!

Lastly, thank you for that quote. I love it! I may just copy that down and use it on my blog as well. Thank you again for everything!

Love ya,
JoLynn

Hi Monica-Yes she does have a new email address and I do not know it. I will give you her cell phone number and you can give her a call. I'm sorry we didn't call you it was kind of a last minute thing! I feel really bad about that! They will be here though until next week. She was wanting to get some people together to go to lunch or dinner sometime during this week. I'm sure she will be calling you about it but here's her number-503-969-5387. Again I'm sorry about that!

I love your little he-zucchini! I wish mine had made it. :( I love that last quote! I remember when Shawn had lost his job and we had felt that we weren't supposed to leave (Ethan was so weak and sick that it was likely he'd not have survived a Utah winter). But no jobs came and we didn't know how we were going to stay in our house. I asked Bishop McLean, "What does it mean when you pray and you get NO answer?" He told us that it meant that we needed to stay the course and that the Lord would let us know if we were doing the wrong thing. It's so hard when you get no answers, though, and the heavens seem silent.

Thanks for the shout out on the pork- I hope your family enjoyed it. I love meals that require little work.
p.s. I'm jealous of your garden!
